Externally, the Competition modification is distinguished by a black radiator grille, as well as modified bumpers and rear-view mirrors.

In the interior, a slightly different instrument panel and carbon fiber trim of some interior elements appeared.
Under the hood of the M2 Competition, they placed a three-liter turbo engine from the older M3, but for the "two" its power was reduced from 431 hp to 410. The version with the 7-speed M DCT "robot" accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, and the modification with a "manual" is 0.2 seconds slower.

The maximum speed of the "charged" model is limited to 250 km/h, but with the M Driver's Package, the bar can be raised to 280 km/h.
Also, the Competition variant is entitled to a re-tuned suspension and reinforced brakes. In addition, the sports coupe is equipped with an active rear differential with a locking function from 0 to 100%.

Sales of the BMW M2 Competition will start in early summer. Then the "regular" version of the model, which only last spring underwent a restyling, will also retire.
