For Mini One and Mini Cooper hatchbacks and convertibles, a seven-speed robotized gearbox with two clutches has become available for the first time.
The new gearbox, developed by Getrag, boasts a selector with an individual design that has no mechanical connection to the transmission itself.
The "robot" has replaced the six-speed "automatic", but it will not replace it on all versions of the Mini. The powerful Cooper S and John Cooper Works modifications will remain without the robotic transmission, which is not capable of handling torque exceeding 300 Nm.
