Externally, the Niro PHEV is almost no different from the regular version of the model. The new version can only be identified by the flap on the front fender hiding the charging port and slightly different bumper design.

The hybrid powertrain has not changed and still produces 141 hp, consuming on average about 5 liters per 100 km. At the same time, the Niro can travel 42 km on electric power alone.

The main advantage of the PHEV version is the ability to drive more often without starting the internal combustion engine, as well as an increased range of up to 900 km.

American sales of the Kia Niro PHEV will start next year. The timing of the plug-in hybrid's release in other markets has not yet been disclosed.
