The head of the FCA concern, Sergio Marchionne, announced plans to release a new crossover. As the top manager clarified, the new model will be based on a platform already familiar from the Alfa Romeo Stelvio crossover, but the powertrains for the Maserati model will be developed separately.

The car's premiere is scheduled for 2020. In addition, Marchionne hopes that with the arrival of this model, Maserati sales will be able to double — from the current 40 thousand to 80 thousand cars annually.
