The new Leaf has been radically transformed both externally and technically. The design of the electric car has become much more expressive and features a signature V-shaped grille, as well as a "floating" roof effect.
Inside, the new steering wheel with a digital instrument cluster, bright blue interior stitching, and a 7-inch multimedia system screen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto services attract attention.
The second generation of the model has added 35 mm in length (4480 mm) and 20 in width (1790 mm), but has become 10 mm lower (1540 mm). The wheelbase has not changed and is still 2700 mm. The trunk volume has increased to 435 liters (+65 l), while the ground clearance of the new Leaf, on the contrary, has decreased to 150 mm (-10 mm).
The "second" Leaf is powered by a new electric motor producing 150 hp (110 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. The capacity of the lithium-ion batteries is now 40 kWh, and a full charge will take from 8 to 16 hours (depending on the source), but with a fast charging station, you can replenish up to 80% in just 40 minutes.
The upgraded powertrain has increased the range in the European NEDC cycle to 378 km, instead of the previous 250 km. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 7.9 seconds (-4 sec.), and the top speed has increased to 144 km/h (+4 km/h).
The brake pedal in the new Leaf will only be needed for emergency braking, since the e-Pedal technology allows acceleration and deceleration using only the accelerator pedal.
The Leaf also features the ProPILOT autonomous driving function, which takes over control on the highway, keeping the car in its lane and controlling the distance to the vehicle ahead.
The new Leaf is also equipped with the ProPILOT Park automatic parking system, which independently controls steering, acceleration, braking, and gear selection.
European sales of the new Nissan Leaf will start in January next year. According to preliminary data, the approximate price for the base version will remain within 30 thousand dollars. The appearance of the model in Ukraine is still a big question.
