The new generation of the model retained its body-on-frame construction and is still based on the F-150 pickup platform. The extensive use of lighter aluminum made it possible to reduce the SUV's weight by almost 140 kg. At the same time, the Expedition gained more than 100 mm in length (5334 mm) and increased its wheelbase by 76 mm (3023 mm).

The model's interior is almost completely unified with the donor pickup, differing only in the automatic transmission selector dial and the rotary knob for selecting modes of the Terrain Management System, which can adapt to 7 different driving conditions.

The new Expedition is equipped with a full set of electronic assistants, including automatic braking, lane keeping assist, and, of course, adaptive cruise control.

For now, only one powertrain is offered for the model – a 3.5-liter EcoBoost turbo engine. The manufacturer decided to keep the engine's power output a secret. As for the transmission, the SUV received a new 10-speed automatic.
The official presentation of the fourth-generation Ford Expedition will take place this week at the Chicago Motor Show.
