The auxiliary 48-volt electrical system will take over the function of the electric supercharger and help improve acceleration characteristics, partially taking on the role of an additional motor.
It is planned that the output of the main two-liter turbocharged unit will increase to 265 horsepower (an increase of 35 hp). In more radical modifications of the "charged" hatchback, the power may reach the 300 hp mark.
The unveiling of the new GTI is expected no earlier than 2019 — first, the next, already the eighth generation of the standard "Golf" should be released.
