The car is positioned as a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. In the model lineup of the German brand, the new product will replace the BMW 6-Series Coupe and Convertible.
Sales of the car in Europe are expected to begin in 2020. Before that, the company plans to present several prototypes of the model.
Some design elements of the future car may resemble the Pininfarina Gran Lusso concept, presented two years ago.

The prototype, on which several studios worked at once, is built on the basis of the brand's flagship – the 7-Series. It was assumed that the model would become the most luxurious and expensive in the BMW lineup, but it never went into production.
