In terms of its dimensions, the new model is comparable to the BMW 3 Series, and in price – to the electric hatchback Nissan Leaf. The detailed price list, as well as the lists of trim levels, are still not exactly known, but the starting price will remain at the mark of 35 thousand dollars – as announced by the company's head Elon Musk. In top configurations - from 50 to 60 thousand dollars.
In terms of exterior, the Model 3 largely resembles the higher-class Model S. It is also known that in the standard configuration, the model will have an autopilot function, a 15-inch touchscreen on the dashboard responsible for controlling most functions, and the ability to fast charge via Supercharger.
The initial version, as Musk stated, will be able to cover 215 miles (350 km) without recharging and accelerate to the first 100 km/h in 6 seconds.
The top version of the electric car will most likely need about 4 seconds to accelerate to a hundred.
According to the manufacturer, the Model 3 will become the safest car in its class and will "earn five stars out of five in each of the categories" from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Serial production of the Tesla Model 3 will begin in 2017, but Musk promised to start deliveries to customers closer to the end of this year.
