According to preliminary information, the debut of the new model will take place in 2020. It will be based on the 7-Series sedan with an extended wheelbase. The luxury coupe will compete with luxury coupes from Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
There is no information about technical specifications, but it is known that the 9-Series will be equipped with a turbocharged V8, and the release of a hybrid modification with a 6-cylinder engine is also planned. Later, "charged" versions M960i or M9 may appear.
The debut of the electric sedan i6, which will get its own platform but will be comparable in size to the 3-Series sedan, is also scheduled for the same 2020. Recall that BMW intends to electrify all models in order to achieve average CO2 emissions of 95 g/km by 2020.
