The Fiat 124 Spider roadster will be built on the platform used in the Mazda MX-5.
It is expected that under the hood of the Italian newcomer will be a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with four cylinders, producing 180 horsepower. It will be offered with two types of transmissions: an automated gearbox with a single clutch and a six-speed manual.
The Abarth modification will get a 1.75-liter turbo engine with 240 hp and a dual-clutch gearbox. In addition to a more powerful unit, the Abarth version will also get a more sporty body appearance.
Information that Fiat plans to revive the name 124 Spider (this model was produced from 1966 to 1982) began to appear back in March. It was also reported then that the roadster production would be organized at the Mazda plant located in Hiroshima.
The car's premiere is scheduled for November, as part of the auto show in Los Angeles.
