BYD E6 is an electric vehicle that, according to the manufacturer, can travel up to 300 kilometers on a single charge. This figure is a world achievement among production cars.

It takes 40 minutes to fully restore the range at special stations, and 6 hours when connected to a regular home outlet. In Shenzhen, where more than 800 such BYD E6 taxis operate on the streets, both the range and charging speed have already been appreciated.

Under the hood is an electric motor with 121 hp (90 kW, 450 Nm), powered by an iron-phosphate "Fe" battery developed by the company itself. Energy consumption does not exceed 21.5 kWh per 100 km, and the top speed is limited to 140 km/h.

AutoPortal representatives managed to test the E6 in its home city — Shenzhen. Details about this car can be found in our article "Electric buses and electric cars — Chinese reality".

The model is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 154 hp. The engine has a flat torque curve (240 Nm), providing peak thrust in the range from 1750 to 4000 rpm. The lineup also includes a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter unit.

The engine can be paired with the latest robotic gearbox with dual clutches, developed by BYD engineers. However, for the Ukrainian market, only a version with a manual transmission and turbocharged engine is currently available.
