Like their colleagues in Kyiv and Lviv, Odesa patrol officers underwent an intensive training course developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs together with Canadian police officers. The latter have many years of experience in patrolling using motorcycles.

It is worth noting that motorcycle patrols in Ukraine existed back in the days of the State Automobile Inspectorate. After the reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they returned in 2018 – already as part of the new police. At that time, the first such patrols appeared in Kyiv. In Lviv, they started operating in 2020.

The main goal of the motorcycle patrol unit is to quickly get to places where police officers in cars cannot go. Such patrols operate only during the "summer" season.
