From today, a speed limit is in effect in the city — no more than 60 km/h. The press service of the Department of Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine explained that this decision was made to improve road safety, as well as taking into account the arrival of winter and a noticeable deterioration in weather.
Earlier, recall, the Traffic Police allowed motorists within the city to accelerate up to 100 km/h on those sections where a sign with a permitted speed of 80 km/h is installed. As the head of the press service of the capital's traffic police department, Yevhen Kravets, explained then, such speed is acceptable with good road surface, a sufficient number of lanes, and the presence of dividing barriers. In the zone of this sign, the rule "+20 km/h" applies, and an inspector has the right to stop and fine a driver only if they exceeded the speed by more than these 20 km/h.
