From now on, new rules for the use of Ukrainian national driver's licenses in EU countries are in effect. They apply exclusively to citizens who are under temporary protection or have the corresponding status in EU countries. The document defines a special procedure for situations where licenses are expired, lost, or stolen.

In particular, in countries such as Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Finland, France, Croatia, Sweden, and the Czech Republic, it has become possible to:

· drive with a Ukrainian license without exchanging it for a local one — this is valid for the entire period while the person is under protection;

· use old-style documents that are issued only in Cyrillic and without a specified validity period — for this, a notarized translation or an international license is not required; it is enough to have an identity document;

· drive a car even when the license expired in 2022 (this applies to licenses issued for the first time for a two-year term);

· obtain a temporary European-style license for the period of protection if the Ukrainian license was lost or stolen — without the need to take exams.
