However, it can only be called absolutely new with a big stretch. In fact, it is assigned almost the same tasks that previously faced the abolished State Automobile Inspectorate. However, in the text of the draft law, the new structure is called the "National Agency for Road Traffic Organization and Safety."
In addition to the duties previously within the competence of the State Automobile Inspectorate, the new body will be responsible for improving the regulatory framework in the field of road traffic and coordinating the actions of other state structures in this direction (including the preparation and approval of requirements for the design and technical condition of cars, etc.). The Agency's work will be directed and controlled by the Cabinet of Ministers through the relevant minister responsible for state policy in the transport sector.
It is worth noting that a separate provision of the draft law provides for a reduction in the permissible speed limit threshold from 20 km/h to 5 km/h. Consequently, for exceeding the speed by 6 km/h, the driver will have to pay a fine of 255 hryvnias.
