Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov announced that the government has approved an agreement with the Italian side on mutual recognition of driver's licenses and their exchange.
The document signed with Italy allows Ukrainians legally present in the country and Italians legally residing in Ukraine to exchange their national driver's licenses for the licenses of the country of residence.
According to Avakov, the exchange procedure itself will take some time, as a special verification of the authenticity and validity of the documents will be required. When a Ukrainian citizen is issued a new Italian license, their Ukrainian license will be confiscated. Similarly, Italians receiving a Ukrainian document will have to surrender their national one.
