A bill on taxation of luxury cars has been re-registered in parliament. The first version of the document was previously proposed by a group of MPs — it concerned a levy on owners of cars with engines of 3510 cc and motorcycles with engines over 800 cc.
The government's initiative looks noticeably stricter. It taxes diesel cars with an engine capacity of more than 2.5 liters and gasoline cars over 3 liters. Vehicles up to 5 years old are proposed to be considered luxury (in the previous draft — up to 8). The rate is not tied to calculations but is fixed at 25,000 UAH annually, the same for all owners of such cars. In the parliamentary version, the amounts were more modest: for a car with a 4-liter engine no older than 3 years, you would pay 4,872 UAH, with a 5-liter engine — 6,090 UAH, and with a 6-liter engine — 7,308 UAH.
Whether the law will be adopted is still unknown, but the chances are quite high...
