The owner told about the incident on his Facebook. He accompanied the publication with photos showing how the new Corvette unexpectedly had to be taken to a service station. Photos of the engine with destructive consequences were also published there.

During the inspection, it turned out that the cause of the breakdown of the new sports car was a factory defect. Namely, a defective intake valve spring. It led to serious damage to the cylinders of the 6.2-liter V8.
As American media note, the GM concern (Chevrolet's parent company) is aware of the problem (that is, it can also happen on other examples of new Corvettes) and promised to solve it.
Interestingly, this defect is not the only one that has been identified in the Corvette C8 since the start of its production in February 2020. Earlier, many sports car owners reported defects in the gearbox and a broken hood latch lock. Thus, the engine problem only adds to the list of tasks that Chevrolet engineers will have to solve in the coming years of production.
