The reason for the recall campaign was a malfunction in the software of the start-stop system, which turns off the engine when stopping and restarts it when the accelerator pedal is pressed. Unofficial information indicates that in some cases, a failure can lead to the engagement of reverse gear at the moment when the gearbox lever is in the Drive position.
To date, at least one incident related to this problem has been recorded. As part of the service campaign, 823 Genesis GV80 crossovers are subject to free repair, which consists of installing updated software.
