Although the news about the discontinuation of the XTS has not been a secret for a long time, interest in this model in the United States continues to grow. Thus, in the second quarter of 2019, 5,359 sedans were sold, which is 46 percent higher than in the same period of 2018. In the first six months of the year, dealers sold more than nine thousand cars, while a year earlier this figure was 8.5 thousand. In the Canadian market, 424 units were sold in January-June 2019, and 290 units in the same period in 2018.

Until recently, the XTS occupied the first line in the category of luxury full-size sedans in the North American market. Among the main rivals of the model were the Lincoln Continental (1.5 thousand units sold in the second quarter of 2019) and the Acura RLX (292 cars sold in the same period).

In America, the sedan was offered with a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 engine (LFX modification), as well as with a more powerful 3.6L V6 LF3 equipped with twin turbocharging. At the same time, the latter unit was available exclusively on the XTS V-Sport version.
