In 2021, a top manager may take the place of the chairman of the company's supervisory board. He has already been offered the corresponding post. This is reported in the official statement of the concern.

The post of Dieter Zetsche will be taken by 49-year-old Ola Källenius. Currently, he is responsible for research and development at Mercedes-Benz. The contract with Källenius will be signed for a period of five years.

"In various positions at Daimler AG, Ola Källenius has earned not only my respect, but also the recognition of colleagues from the most diverse fields. He has also made a valuable contribution to the international development of the concern. Therefore, I welcome this forward-looking personnel decision of the supervisory board," said Dieter Zetsche.

Källenius's successor in his previous position will be Markus Schäfer. Previously, he was responsible for production and supply chain management.

Zetsche headed the German automaker in January 2006. Ten years later, the company's supervisory board extended his contract until the end of December 2019.
