The automaker now plans to focus its efforts on developing gasoline-powered cars and hybrid versions. Starting in 2019, the company's key focus will be on electric vehicles.
The main reason for this step was the scandal related to the falsification of data on harmful emissions. The company's CEO Oliver Blume emphasized in an interview with Bild am Sonntag that the diesel scandal brought many difficulties to his firm.
It is planned to allocate 6 billion euros for the creation of eco-friendly models until 2022. According to forecasts, by 2025 half of all produced Porsches will be equipped with electric or hybrid powertrains.
