Now the numbers in the trim level name will be determined by engine power, while the letter designations of engine types (TFSI, TDI, and others) will remain unchanged.

The decoding of the new and rather ambiguous numerical indices will be as follows:

  • 30 – power from 81 to 96 kW (110–130 hp),
  • 35 – from 110 to 120 kW (150–163 hp),
  • 40 – from 125 to 150 kW (170–204 hp),
  • 45 – from 169 to 185 kW (230–252 hp),
  • 50 – from 210 to 230 kW (286–313 hp),
  • 55 – from 245 to 275 kW (333–374 hp),
  • 60 – from 320 to 340 kW (435–462 hp),
  • 70 – from 400 kW and above (from 544 hp).

The first model to use the new designations will be the top-end Audi A8 sedan.
