Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Husteliev stated that, first of all, electric buses are planned to fully serve two routes in the capital – No. 55 (from Darnytsia Square to the Palats Sportu metro station) and No. 62 (from the Botanical Garden to Kontraktova Square).

For these routes, it is planned to purchase from 17 to 20 electric buses. As noted, this will be modern equipment that will also be adapted for transporting passengers with disabilities.

Financing for the purchase of electric buses and charging stations for them will be carried out using funds received as compensation for the sale of quotas under the Kyoto Protocol.

The transition of two Kyiv routes to electric transport will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 537 tons annually. Earlier, tests of two such buses were already conducted in the city.

Let us recall that previously there were reports about plans to start production of electric buses in Ukraine. The Bohdan corporation intends to establish production.
