France moved to second place: car sales in the country grew by 20.1%, reaching 210 thousand units. Italy holds third place among the largest European car markets, with 195.5 thousand cars sold, which is 15.7% more than the previous figure.
At the same time, the UK, which topped the European sales ranking at the end of September, now ranks only fourth — in England, about 169 thousand cars were purchased last month (+31.6%). Russia, in turn, has been holding fifth place in this "European ranking" for the second month in a row. According to AEB data, 116.7 thousand cars were sold in Russia in October, which is 52% less than the result of the same period last year.
If we sum up the results of ten months of 2009, Germany remains the leader with sales of more than 3.3 million cars. Next come France (1 million 823 thousand), Italy (1 million 807 thousand), the UK (1 million 586 thousand), and Russia (1 million 232 thousand).
It is worth adding that after a slight recovery in September, the Ukrainian car market has declined again. The drop amounted to 1 thousand 668 vehicles, or 10.6% compared to September figures. Recall that in September, the domestic vehicle market grew by almost 6%.
