The list of brands with the fastest price drops also includes Tesla — the Model S and Model X lose 65% and 63% of their value, respectively, over the specified period. A similar trend is observed in the premium class. For instance, the BMW 7 Series depreciates by more than 67%, the Infiniti QX80 by about 65%, and the Maserati Ghibli by almost 65%. The popular electric car Nissan Leaf also noticeably loses value — over 64%.
According to the study results, the rate of depreciation is influenced by both the engine type and the brand's reputation. Electric cars often become morally obsolete faster, and the cost of their batteries decreases over time, which worsens their liquidity on the secondary market. In the premium segment, significant maintenance costs and weaker demand for previous generations of models also cause a substantial price drop.
At the same time, it is important to remember that the used car market in Ukraine has its own specifics. Sometimes quite decent cars can be bought cheaper than in Europe, and sometimes — vice versa. For example, models such as the Dacia Duster or Škoda Octavia may cost significantly more in Ukraine than in other countries.
