The most significant drop in demand was recorded for electric cars. The number of sold electric vehicles decreased by 37%, and the share of cars with a purely electric powertrain among new passenger cars fell to 15.6%. For comparison: a year ago this share reached 20%, and according to the results of January-February 2024 — 21.6%.

Thus, during the first two months of the year, the domestic new car market shows a decline, which has already affected the positions of the main players. Current trends echo what was observed in 2017.

The biggest decline is in the segment of inexpensive Low Cost: sales of such cars in February fell by almost 54%. In addition, 20% fewer cars were sold in the middle price category.

In February 2025, Toyota maintained its leadership in the market. Skoda took second place with a share of 8.4%. Renault became third.

It is indicative that out of the top ten most demanded brands, four still increased their sales volumes, but the overall dynamics remained negative: the market as a whole lost 20% compared to the same period last year.

It is worth mentioning that at the beginning of February the indicators were more encouraging: as of the 25th, the market was even in positive territory. However, the final week of the month turned out to be difficult for buyers, which affected the final figures.
