Carscoops has published a selection of interesting cars that were sold new in the US in the first half of 2021, despite having long left the assembly line. A similar article, by the way, was published by Autoportal in January – then it was about old-new cars that were shipped to customers back in 2018-2020.

One might think that if cars "linger" in dealerships, they are exclusively sports cars, not in high demand, "weekend cars." In principle, that is true, but only partly. The colleagues' research shows that years later, even popular cars like the Volkswagen Touareg II and even the Passat CC can be found on sale!

Discontinued cars that could be bought in America in the first half of this year:

  • BMW i8: production years – 2014-2020, sold in 2021 – 10 units;
  • FIAT 500: production years – 2010-2019, sold in 2021 – 12 units;
  • FIAT 124 Spyder: production years – 2017-2020, sold in 2021 – 873 units;
  • Dodge Viper: production years – 1989-2017, sold in 2021 – 2 units;
  • Chrysler 200: production years – 2011-2016, sold in 2021 – 3 units;
  • Chrysler Town and Country: production years – 2008-2016, sold in 2021 – 1 unit;
  • Jeep Patriot: production years – 2007-2016, sold in 2021 – 4 units;
  • Buick Cascada: production years – 2016-2019, sold in 2021 – 7 units;
  • Mercedes-Benz SLK / SLC: production years – 2011-2020, sold in 2021 – 198 units;
  • Nissan 370Z: production years – 2008-2020, sold in 2021 – 33 units;
