As Belgian media report citing insiders, difficulties arose due to disrupted delivery schedules for batteries from LG, whose components are also used by other automakers producing electric models. In addition, taking advantage of its leading market position, the Korean supplier raised battery prices.

The planned production run of the Audi e-tron for 2019 was reduced by more than 10 thousand units, amounting to 45.2 thousand units. Additionally, the German brand postponed the launch of another electric vehicle, the e-tron Sportback, to next year.

Furthermore, Audi is experiencing disruptions in the supply of electric motors, which are assembled at its Hungarian plant in Győr, where a large-scale strike had recently taken place. Currently, the plant operates on a reduced schedule — six hours a day instead of eight, and a transition to a four-day workweek is expected in the near future.

Due to these difficulties, customer waiting times for the Audi e-tron electric crossover have increased by two months and now range from six to seven months.
