Nissan has set itself the goal of selling one million vehicles with electrified powertrains worldwide by 2022 — whether fully electric models or cars using e-POWER technology.
Inspired by the commercial success of the new generation Nissan Leaf, the Japanese manufacturer plans to introduce eight new "fully electric" models, as well as significantly strengthen its presence in the Chinese market, using various brands for this purpose.
Among the upcoming new products are the production version of the conceptual electric crossover Nissan IMx, as well as a new electric vehicle belonging to the C-class, built on the Nissan Leaf platform.
By 2021, Infiniti models will be exclusively electric or will receive e-POWER powertrains.
As part of the updated development strategy, it is also planned to equip 20 models with the ProPILOT autonomous driving system, which will allow selling one million cars capable of moving in automatic mode annually by 2022.
Additionally, by the completion of this plan, the company expects to ensure full "digital connectivity" for all new Nissan, Infiniti, and Datsun vehicles sold in major global markets.
