According to the British press, Audi plans to remove the three-door modification from the A3 family lineup.
The German automaker has decided to drop the three-door version in an effort to reduce costs to cover significant financial losses caused by the expanding diesel engine scandal.
The next generation of the Audi A3 will hit the market in 2019, and it will be presented as a five-door Sportback hatchback, later joined by a sedan. In addition, a hatchback with a coupe-like silhouette, inspired by the design of the A7 Sportback, may appear, but its release is not expected before 2021.
