Ford Fusion: prices and specifications

1 generations Country of origin: United States

Ford Fusion is a compact hatchback created specifically for the European market. It combined features of a station wagon and a minivan, which is reflected in its name: from English, "Fusion" translates as "blend." The reason for the model's appearance was the growing popularity of compact hatchbacks and microvans in Europe. Assembly was set up at the Ford plant in Cologne, and the technical base was the fifth-generation Fiesta. The new car differed from it with a raised roof, increased ground clearance, new headlights, and a modified body design. Two-year prototype testing took place on roads in Germany and Spain.

The world premiere of the Ford Fusion took place in 2002 at the Frankfurt Motor Show (in the US, a sedan with the same name has been produced since 2006). The unusual shape quickly gained popularity in Europe due to its high-quality assembly, economical engines, reliable suspension, and affordable price. Three years later, the model underwent a facelift: the front and rear lights, bumpers, and interior were updated. The equipment list added features that were not previously offered even for an extra charge: power-folding mirrors, stability control, an onboard computer, and a Bluetooth stereo.

In 2012, production of the model ended — it was replaced by the completely new Ford B-Max.

In Ukraine, the Ford Fusion appeared in 2006. Despite the availability of a diesel engine in the lineup, only gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.4 and 1.6 liters were offered on the local market. They were paired with a five-speed manual, a four-speed automatic, or a five-speed robotic gearbox. Drive — front.
