The base version of the bZ4X is equipped with a single electric motor producing 204 hp with a peak torque of 265 Nm, driving the front wheels. The higher trim adds an additional motor on the rear axle, providing all-wheel drive, a total output of 217.5 hp, and a combined torque of 336 Nm.

To maintain optimal temperature for the battery and cabin, the bZ4X features heating via a heat pump, and an optional infrared emitter is available to warm the driver's and front passenger's legs, offered together with heated seats.
Driving impressions and efficiency
This car is more focused on comfort than dynamics, although in this aspect it does not yield to competitors.
Movement is quiet, and although this is typical of many electric SUVs, in the Toyota bZ4X the high-quality sound insulation is especially noticeable: noise from wheels and wind barely penetrates the cabin.
The suspension is tuned softly but works effectively: it absorbs bumps well while preventing excessive body roll and pitching.
When the bZ4X encounters potholes or poor road surfaces, impacts are barely felt in the cabin. If you decide to enter a corner quickly, the car confidently holds its line, remaining safe and well-controlled.

Toyota claims that average electricity consumption ranges from 14.4 to 18.0 kWh/100 km depending on the bZ4X modification. Both figures are quite modest for a large SUV, and judging by practice, low consumption can be achieved with a calm and measured driving style. The car is noticeably aerodynamic: it coasts easily by inertia and maintains speed on the highway without effort.
Dynamic characteristics
The 204 hp version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 160 km/h. The more powerful 218 hp modification sprints to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds but has the same top speed of 160 km/h.

When pressing the accelerator pedal, the bZ4X demonstrates smooth but confident acceleration, felt as a powerful push forward. The car is faster than it seems at first glance, although this is not surprising, as many electric vehicles hide their dynamics behind silence. During overtaking or merging into oncoming traffic, there is plenty of power reserve for a quick maneuver.
Charging and range
According to Toyota, the 71.4 kWh battery can be charged from fast DC charging stations with a power of up to 150 kW. Under such conditions, reaching 80% charge from a nearly empty battery will take approximately 30 minutes. This is a standard figure for competitors.
