Citroen C-Elysee/Peugeot 301

The French sedans Citroen C-Elysee and Peugeot 301, which are technical twins, were created with an eye on the auto markets of countries that are usually classified as developing. For such regions, the key criteria for choosing a car are simplicity of design, durability and low price. The choice in favor of a three-box body is also not accidental - it is these cars that are in special demand there.

For Ukrainian buyers, these models are offered with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel, whose output is 92 horsepower and 230 Nm of peak torque. The unit works in conjunction with a five-speed manual gearbox. In urban driving conditions, such a sedan is content with 5.5 liters of diesel per hundred kilometers. In addition to the economical engine, the "French" can boast a spacious luggage compartment designed for 506 liters of cargo.

The price of the diesel C-Elysee starts from 385,100 hryvnias, while for the Peugeot 301 they ask at least 391,100 hryvnias. The basic equipment for this money includes an anti-lock braking system, a pair of front airbags, air conditioning, electric windows, fog lights, electric power steering and metal protection for the power unit. By paying extra, you can get front side airbags, heated seats and windshield, cruise control, audio system and rear parking sensors.

Kia Rio

The pre-restyling version of the third-generation Kia Rio appeared at our dealers last year, so calling it an absolute new product can only be done with a big caveat. The car is produced in two body styles - a sedan and a hatchback, with the latter available as both a three-door and a five-door.

Diesel versions for our market are available exclusively for the five-door modification. The initial version is equipped with a 1.1-liter engine that produces a rather modest 75 hp. A six-speed manual is assigned to this engine. In the urban cycle, the Korean hatchback consumes only 4.1 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. You can also choose a hatchback with a more productive 1.4-liter unit developing 90 hp; such a car burns 4.4 liters per hundred kilometers.

The minimum price of the diesel Kia Rio is 405,720 hryvnias - this is the version in the initial Comfort trim, which includes six airbags, electronic stability control ESC, electric windows, air conditioning and a number of other options. For 425,880 hryvnias you can purchase a more powerful modification, which will additionally please with heated seats, leather steering wheel trim and a light sensor.

Renault Logan

The budget sedan Renault Logan is essentially a creation of the Romanian brand Dacia, but here it is sold under the more promoted French brand. The same platform formed the basis for the Logan MCV station wagon, the Sandero hatchback and the Dokker and Lodgy microvans.

For all body versions, a single diesel unit with a volume of 1.5 liters is provided, whose power is 90 hp, and peak torque reaches 220 Nm. The engine works in tandem with a five-speed manual gearbox. In urban mode, the "Logan" spends 4.4 liters of fuel per hundred. The trunk volume of the sedan reaches an impressive 510 liters, and a ground clearance of 175 millimeters can give odds to some crossovers.

The price of the diesel version of the Renault Logan starts from 343,440 hryvnias for the starting trim, which includes only the essentials: ABS, two airbags, air conditioning and an audio system. For extra money, the list of equipment can be significantly expanded by ordering, for example, climate control or navigation.

Renault Duster

The Renault Duster is also built on the basis of the "Logan" and is currently the cheapest crossover with a diesel engine among all those presented here. In 2014, the model underwent a light restyling that affected primarily the interior, which had long needed refinement.

The "Duster" is available with a diesel engine producing 110 hp, a six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system. In urban conditions, the crossover consumes exactly five liters of diesel per 100 kilometers.

The initial cost of the diesel Renault Duster is 449,334 hryvnias. The list of standard equipment is almost the same as that of the "Logan" sedan, but the choice of options here is somewhat richer. So, the buyer can order side airbags, an electronic stability control system ESP or genuine leather seat trim.

UAZ Hunter

The brutal SUV UAZ Hunter turned out to be the most affordable car with a diesel engine on the domestic market. Despite numerous modernizations, the "UAZ" still has difficulty with everyday use in the city, but it is still ready to storm the most severe off-road conditions.

The diesel "Hunter" is equipped with a 2.2-liter engine producing a modest 112 hp (torque is 270 Nm) and a five-speed manual gearbox. But its fuel consumption is not modest at all - on average 10.5 liters per hundred kilometers.

The UAZ Hunter is offered only in a single trim, for which they ask 366,000 hryvnias. Unfortunately, of all the equipment, it only provides a hydraulic power steering.
