It is caused by the fact that a huge number of cars with internal combustion engines are becoming very expensive to operate. And electricity continues to be the cheapest source of energy. The first to notice this were in the USA. And today this country has the largest fleet of electric vehicles in the world.

It is worth noting that, contrary to the opinion of one of the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, there are also electric vehicles in Ukraine. But not thanks to the government's care, but because of the dedication of fans of electrification of motor transport. There are so many rational grains in their arguments that there is no desire to argue. Of course. The cost of operating electric vehicles is several times lower than any car with an internal combustion engine. This more than pays off the initial cost of electric transport, which is still quite significant. True, every year it is still decreasing. Today, if desired, any resident of Ukraine with average income can buy an electric vehicle. But what about the disadvantages, the reader will ask? Unfortunately, they still exist. For example, many people do not like the short range. Rather, not even the range, but the inability to quickly replenish it. But for those who mostly move within populated areas, with a daily mileage of up to 150 km, an electric vehicle is an excellent alternative to gasoline, diesel and even gas cars that pollute the atmosphere.

What is all the above for? And to the fact that among our fellow citizens there are already many owners of electric cars. And these people are happy to use them and significantly save money. In this regard, leading Ukrainian companies that supply electric vehicles, as well as some gas station networks, are installing charging stations. Such companies, together with enthusiasts, have joined forces to develop the electric vehicle industry in Ukraine and created a new association "Ukrainian Association of Electric Vehicle Market Participants" EV-UA (Electric Vehicle Ukraine).

You will ask, what does this give? First of all, it will provide an opportunity to develop several areas of activity: popularization and promotion of electric transport, support for legislative initiatives aimed at developing electric transport infrastructure, attracting investments for the development of this sector. The development of the electric car market would open up undeniable economic advantages for Ukraine. The production of electric vehicles, electric buses and charging equipment could give Ukraine an increase of 2-3% of GDP over the next twenty years.

Let's look at the infographics of various aspects of electric vehicle operation and what this can lead to for clarity.

One of the first (and important!) aspects is the reduction of harmful emissions. The following picture clearly shows the share of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere from stationary and mobile energy sources. By mobile we mean cars with internal combustion engines.

Already by 2011, the share of cars in environmental pollution had not yet reached half of the total, but already had a significant volume. Today it is almost half. It is clear that this negatively affects the state of the atmosphere.

The next important aspect could be the improvement of GDP.

The figure shows how this can affect economic development.

The third, but main aspect when buying a car, is the economic component of vehicle maintenance. This is especially relevant for Ukraine, where today the cost of the main types of fuel significantly exceeds the cost of electricity.

Another parameter is added that can only please the car owner. Electric vehicles break down much less often. Apart from the chassis, there is simply nothing to break there.

A modern electric vehicle consists of approximately 1000 parts. For comparison, a car with an internal combustion engine consists of 2000-2300 parts.

But for the maximum effect of economic efficiency in Ukraine, it is necessary to adopt a number of special incentive laws. This is exactly what the association will be doing.

What the initiatives of the association's participants can lead to is clearly visible in the following figure.

That is, thanks to the introduction of a preferential regime for the import of such cars into Ukraine, their cost can drop to an acceptable level - from 40 thousand, for example, to 32 thousand. Yes, it will remain high compared to classic cars, but the low cost of operation will fully compensate for the higher price.

In addition, a number of such issues need to be resolved:

- There is only one code for electric vehicles and there are completely no codes (identification) for plug-in hybrids. Hybrid cars are mentioned only in additional documents.

- There is no mention of electric or hybrid drives for buses or commercial vehicles, respectively, the provision of preferences is difficult.

- There is no stimulation for the purchase of ecological transport

- Lack of a state program and support for the production of vehicles on electric or hybrid traction.

- Lack of stimulation for the development of a network of charging stations.

And what do you think about the future of electric vehicles in Ukraine?
