Why do you need a UA sticker on a car?
The UA sticker serves as an international identifier of the country where the car is registered. According to the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, cars traveling abroad must have a country of registration mark. With the introduction of euro plates with the "UA" code, many drivers believe that a separate sticker is no longer needed. However, this is not always the case: in some European countries, especially outside the EU, the requirements for marking remain strict, and the absence of the appropriate marking may result in a fine.

UA sticker on a car: where to stick it?
One of the most common questions is where to stick the UA sticker on a car to comply with regulations. There are several rules that are advisable to follow:
1. Rear part of the car
The main and most recommended place is on the left rear of the car body. Drivers most often place the UA sticker:
on the trunk (if it's a sedan or hatchback);
on the rear window (if it provides visibility and does not obstruct the view);
on the bumper (lower left corner is a popular option).
It is important that the sticker is clearly visible to other road users, especially police abroad.
2. Consider the body type
If you are driving a station wagon, SUV, or minivan, the placement of the sticker may depend on the design. The main rule is at the rear and outside. Do not stick it under the glass from the inside if tinted glass makes the sticker hard to read.
3. On the license plate - not allowed
Sticking the sticker on the license plate itself is prohibited. This is considered an administrative offense and may result in a fine not only in Ukraine but also abroad.
How to properly stick UA on a car?
Before sticking the UA sticker on the car, you need to prepare the surface:
Clean and degrease the chosen area - for example, with an alcohol solution.
Make sure the surface is dry and smooth.
Carefully remove the protective film and stick the sticker, smoothing from the center to the edges to avoid bubbles.

What types of UA stickers are there?
Today, two main options are available:
Oval UA sticker - the classic option recognized by most countries.
Magnetic UA plate - more convenient for temporary use, for example, on rented cars.
The sticker must be black letters on a white background, at least 18×11 cm in size, to comply with the requirements of the Vienna Convention.
What happens if you don't stick UA on the car?
If you are traveling within the EU and the plates already have a blue stripe with "UA", in most cases there will be no problems. But if you are heading to countries with strict regulations (e.g., Serbia, Montenegro, Albania), the absence of the sticker may lead to:
refusal to cross the border;
a fine from the traffic police;
problems in case of an accident or document checks.
