AutoPortal gives several tips on how to quickly achieve a comfortable temperature inside the car.

How to quickly cool the car interior

1. Air conditioner maintenance

In general, before actively using the air conditioner, it needs to be prepared. On average, the air conditioner requires a filter replacement every 15,000 km. This is necessary to ensure it cleans the air better, prevents the appearance of mold and harmful bacteria, and, of course, does not suddenly break down.

In addition, do not forget about refilling the air conditioner's refrigerant – freon. This procedure should be done on average once every three years (if there are no leaks).

2. Before turning on the air conditioner

Turning on the air conditioner immediately upon arrival is not the best idea. To begin with, it is recommended to thoroughly ventilate the car. To do this, open the windows/doors on both sides (you can also slightly "wave" the doors – slowly, carefully).

Car ventilation

With this simple procedure, you can already achieve a significant temperature reduction. After the car has been ventilated, you can sit in the cabin, close the doors and windows, and turn on the air conditioner.

3. Actually, turning on the air conditioner

The most important thing is to achieve an even distribution of the air flow. For this, the air vents should be directed upward (for those who do not know – using a special slider lever, usually located on the side or at the bottom of the "grille"), and not at the face of the driver/passengers. You should not cool the car too much (this same principle, by the way, is also used when operating a regular room air conditioner) – the difference in temperature between outside and inside should be no more than 8-10 degrees. The optimal solution (primarily for the human body) is 3-5 degrees.

Turning on the air conditioner

In short, while the cabin is still quite hot, you can "crank" the system to noticeably cool air, but after a couple of minutes it is better to set a comfortable mode.

Another important point – immediately after getting into the car, you can turn on the internal air recirculation for just a few minutes, so the cabin will cool even faster. Then, after a short time, switch to supplying outside air. This will allow the system to distribute the air flow more evenly and efficiently.

4. Even if it is cold

Sometimes a summer morning can be noticeably cool, and in such a situation it also makes sense to use the air conditioner. This will prevent the windows from fogging up when the outside temperature rises slightly.

5. General recommendation

If possible, it is better, of course, to park the car in the shade, and not be lazy to move it from one place to another as the sun rises and sets. Because under the influence of its rays, the car heats up quite noticeably: for example, at an ambient temperature of 26 degrees, after half an hour in the sun, the car interior will already be 42 degrees, and after an hour – 52 degrees. This will not only help the upholstery heat up less, but also preserve the "marketable appearance" of the dashboard plastic.

If such an opportunity is not available, it would not be superfluous to add a sun-protective foil/shade to your set of car accessories.
