Volkswagen Touran became the first compact van in the brand's history, introduced in 2003. The model name is derived from the words Tour and Sharan (the company's larger minivan). The car is built on the platform of the fifth-generation Volkswagen Golf. The Touran is offered in five- and seven-seat configurations. In 2010, the second generation of the model debuted, which did not have significant differences from the first.
