Volkswagen Multivan is a passenger minivan built on the basis of the commercial Transporter model. The name translates as "multifunctional minivan."
First generation (T4, from 1990)
The passenger version called Multivan debuted in 1990 simultaneously with the fourth generation Transporter (T4). This generation was revolutionary: for the first time, the car received front-wheel drive, and the engine was moved to the front (previously the motor was located above the rear axle). Later, an all-wheel drive version also appeared. After the 1996 facelift, a modification with an elongated hood was released — such a "nose" was required for the installation of a new 2.8-liter gasoline V6. The car was offered with different wheelbases (standard and long) and several roof height options.
Second generation (T5, from 2003)
The Multivan T5 was introduced in 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Four years later, a version with an extended wheelbase appeared. In 2010, the model underwent a facelift: the radiator grille, front and rear lights, and interior were changed. The range of engines and transmissions was completely updated.
On the Ukrainian market (from 2010)
The updated Multivan began to be supplied to Ukraine in 2010. The model is available in five trim levels. The minivan is equipped with two 2.0-liter engines — gasoline and diesel, as well as a diesel version with bi-turbocharging. Transmissions: 5- or 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Drive — front or all-wheel drive.
