Volkswagen Jetta is a sedan built on the Golf hatchback platform. The model was first shown in 1979. According to one version, the name Jetta is borrowed from a Pacific wind that affects aircraft movement. In the European market, the third and fourth generations were sold under the names Vento and Bora, respectively. The fifth generation, which debuted in 2005, returned to the historical name.
