The problem is caused by a huge queue of cars at the Chongar checkpoint, which has stretched for more than 10 km. The situation arose due to the meticulous inspection of vehicles with Ukrainian license plates by Russian border guards.

It is easy to calculate that the processing of one truck by Russian border guards takes more than 30 minutes, and cars – at least 20 minutes. The Russians let through one vehicle at a time. As a result, drivers are forced to wait in line for hours.
The statement distributed by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine says: “The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine recommends that Ukrainian citizens choose other routes for travel to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, where there is no such congestion of vehicles. In turn, Ukrainian border guards are taking all measures to facilitate the movement of traffic in both directions.”
