The car was prepared for participation in the World Time Attack Challenge competition, which starts on October 12 in Sydney.

The new product is based on the R-Line version, under the hood of which is a modified two-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The power output of the unit reaches 490 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. With such an engine, the liftback accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The maximum speed figure is still kept secret, but it will clearly exceed the 250 km/h mark.

In addition, the car has acquired improved APR brakes, Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tires, and Bilstein sports shock absorbers. The unusual body color was the work of artist Simon Murray.

Earlier it became known that Volkswagen intends to release a full-fledged hot modification of the liftback under the name Arteon R. It is assumed that this version will receive a turbocharged 3.0-liter gasoline V6. Its power will be 410 horsepower. The new product will also be equipped with an all-wheel drive system and the latest generation Haldex coupling. The company noted that the modular MQB platform allows the installation of various units, and engineers have already assembled a prototype of the flagship with a V6 engine.
