Subaru has added two new sections to its Bifuka proving ground for testing autonomous driving systems.
Located on the island of Hokkaido, the test site has acquired a track that simulates city streets with intersections, pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, and the like.
Another "autopilot" section is created in the form of a highway segment with simulated entrances/exits from interchanges.
The new test tracks will be used to upgrade the proprietary EyeSight system, as well as for testing fully autonomous models that are expected to debut in 2020.
