The key feature of the new material is a complete rejection of bitumen. Instead, special microgranules made from recycled plastic are used.
According to the creators, the service life of such a road surface exceeds traditional asphalt by ten times, and the strength indicator is 60 percent higher.
The first section of the road made of "plastic asphalt" has already appeared in the British county of Cumbria.
It is worth adding that last autumn, a similar project of plastic roads was announced in the Netherlands.
