The platform is an interface that connects Android devices with a car multimedia system. The driver will be able to control the functions of their gadget using the touch screen, steering wheel buttons, or voice commands.
According to Patrick Brady, head of Android technical development department, safety was a priority issue during the creation of the new platform.
Android Auto allows making calls, sending voice-dictated SMS messages and emails, controlling music stored on the phone, and using mobile navigation via Google Maps.
