In Kyiv, a 2007 BMW M6 Cabrio of the E64 generation was photographed. The open version of the sports model is equipped with a naturally aspirated V10 and is significantly rarer than the coupe: in total, BMW produced only 5,065 such convertibles. The BMW M6 Cabrio received a naturally aspirated V10 with 507 hp
The five-liter V10 develops 507 hp and 520 Nm, and the engine's maximum rpm reaches 8,250 rpm. From a standstill, the BMW M6 Cabrio accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, and the top speed of the standard car is limited to 250 km/h.
The engine works with a seven-speed SMG automated manual transmission with the Drivelogic system. The driver could choose among 11 gearshift programs, and in the fastest mode, a gear change took only 50 milliseconds.
The V10 for the BMW M5 and BMW M6 was created using solutions inspired by the BMW WilliamsF1 engine. This unit twice in a row, in 2005 and 2006, won the main award International Engine of the Year.
The rare BMW M6 E64 was produced in a run of 5,065 cars
The BMW M6 Cabrio became the first open-top M version of the BMW 6 Series. It was presented in 2006, and production ended in 2010. During this time, 5,065 convertibles were manufactured versus 9,087 BMW M6 coupes.
Along with the end of production of the BMW M6 E63/E64, the company discontinued the naturally aspirated V10 of this series. The total production run of BMW M6 coupes and convertibles with this engine was 14,152 cars.
