Tesla Motors finished the second quarter of this year with significant financial losses: the losses of the American electric vehicle manufacturer reached 408 million dollars. These figures are given in the company's official report. At the same time, the company managed to improve its performance compared to the first quarter of 2019, when losses amounted to 702 million dollars.
In three months, Tesla Motors sold 95,000 electric cars, and the company's revenue reached 5.2 billion dollars. During the reporting period, the manufacturer produced more than 87 thousand cars. Earlier, the company's founder Elon Musk stated that already in the third quarter of 2019, Tesla would be able to become profitable.
In March of this year, Tesla announced a new compact electric crossover Model Y. Its price starts from 39,000 dollars. The new model uses a platform already familiar from the Model 3. The crossover is equipped with two electric motors, and buyers will have options with batteries of different capacities.
The company's plans include the presentation of an electric pickup truck. This vehicle will have a futuristic look in the spirit of cyberpunk. Even in the base version, two electric motors with impressive torque and all-wheel drive are provided. The vehicle's range without recharging will be approximately 650–800 kilometers.
