The standard 3.0-liter V6 engine gave way to a boosted 3.5-liter unit, which in turn was bored out to 3.7 liters. The powertrain is combined with three electric motors: one drives the front wheels, the other two drive the rear. The total power of the hybrid system reaches 405 horsepower and 475 newton-meters. Gear shifting is handled by a seven-speed preselective gearbox with two clutches.

The exclusive Acura MDX features a re-tuned suspension with racing characteristics and a full roll cage. In the base version, the crossover offers three rows of seats, but for the "Race in the Clouds" competition, only one racing driver's seat was left in the cabin.
