It appears that the impetus for such a close partnership was the merger of two other Japanese automakers, Nissan and Mitsubishi, which took place shortly before. The details of the agreements have not yet been disclosed, as well as information about a possible redistribution of shares in the share capital.
Cooperation, beneficial for both parties, should lead to Suzuki models gaining access to Toyota's advanced technological solutions. In turn, this will allow Toyota to strengthen its position in the promising Indian market, where Suzuki plays one of the leading roles.
